McDonald’s Halloumi Fries
McDonald’s Hallowumi Fries Review
Calories: 210/630 kcal.
McDonald’s have launched Halloumi Fries for the very first time in the UK and as with most other “sides” now come in a portion size of 4 or 12.
I’m going to keep this review short as it is always difficult (IMO) writing about a side-dish. After all, they’re not the main attraction!?
And a disclaimer: yes I know Burger King have had Hallowumi Fries before and no I haven’t tried them as a comparison.
But… I will go on record now and say a) I will DEFINITELY be having McDonald’s Halloumi Fries again and b) next time BK have them available I will also try those.
I am also keeping this review short as I am feeling fast food fatigue after sampling the new Spicy Spanish Stack at lunch.
Feeling pretty glad I also didn’t go with the new Chicken Fiesta as well. Piggy.
That will have to be tomorrow before our next episode of the BURGER LAD podcast.
My food promptly via Click & Serve and as I drove off, wondered if they would have forgotten the accompanying Rich Tomato Dip in my unchecked brown paper bag.
Back at the office, I discovered that they had remembered the dip!
And being quite a big fan of Halloumi in a previous life, I was genuinely looking forward to these more than the burger.
Wash your mouth out BL.
As you can see from the pictures (and if you haven’t tried these yet), McDonald’s Halloumi Fries are quite small but they certain look the part.
You can see a few green (and as many red) herb flecks here and there with that golden but soft exterior coating.
They really do look appetising.
Biting in, you get that trademark firm texture and salty flavor of the Halloumi and I can’t help but think this is one of my favorite McDonald’s sides of all times.
Seem to remember saying that recently too. Too fast food fatigued to check now.
I like the Fries with or without the dipping sauce and it is only a matter of time before I get these again and most definitely as a Sharebox. With someone else… obviously.
It’s also worth buying the Sharebox if there is more than one of you interested in eating these lovely beauties – paying what I did today (premium location) amounted to approx. 62p per piece for the 4 vs. 54p for 12.
I’m kicking myself for not trying the Burger King ones when they were out as a comparison, but I’m sure they will be back and we now have the delights of Deliveroo now serving BLHQ.
Could McDonald’s go down the Halloumi burger route?
Or is that a bit “too much” and this rich, salty cheese is best served up in little sticks of deep fried goodness?
Time will tell.
My only other question I have as I finish this rather rushed review is with BK now offering Loaded Fries, could McDonald’s bring their version to the UK market in the future?
I will be excited if they do.
In the meantime, I’m going to give the photos of McDonald’s Halloumi Fries one last scan and remember just how good they were.
Damn. Chicken Fiesta tomorrow or the next day. I suppose I will just have to accompany those with another portion…
Oh and you can currently get 20% off your order or £5 off £20 spend so it’s a perfect opportunity to try Part 2 of McDonald’s Summer Menu.
I was disappointed by the Spicy Spanish Stack but have no faults whatsoever with the new and tasty Halloumi Fries.
